API Gateway for Ministry of Justice

An automated API Gateway was created to manage the payments of the Ministry of Justice through different systems from a single centre. Integrations with several systems, including HÖP, enabled faster processing, tracking and auditing of payments.

Problem

Previously, payments for various services of the Ministry of Justice were made through different systems. The lack of uniform data flow between systems made it difficult to centrally track and manage transactions.

Additional manual intervention was required when checking payment statuses, reconciling transactions and preparing reports. This made processes take more time and increased the risk of operational errors.

There was a need for a technical solution that would integrate all payment channels and related systems into a single infrastructure, automate data exchange and provide full auditability.

Step 1

Analysis of existing systems and payment flows

In the first stage, payment processes and systems used for various services of the Ministry of Justice were analyzed.

All stages including creating a payment request, processing the transaction, transferring the result to the relevant system and storing the data for reporting purposes were defined.

Based on the results of the analysis, the API Gateway architecture was formed, which creates a single connection between different systems and centralizes payment processes.

Step 2

Building API Gateway and system integrations

The MSolution team developed an automated API Gateway that integrates with several systems, including HÖP.

The Gateway receives incoming payment requests from various systems, routes them to the appropriate channel, and transmits the transaction result back to the appropriate system. With this, uniform and managed information exchange between different technical infrastructures was ensured.

Integrations reduced additional manual operations in the payment process and enabled services to be managed over a single technical infrastructure.

Payment management

Centralized processing and real-time monitoring

Incoming payments for various services through API Gateway have started to be processed in a single center.

Each transaction's request and response data, its current status, and the steps it takes between systems are recorded. This mechanism allows real-time monitoring of payments and more prompt identification of possible technical problems.

Centralized management reduced the need for separate verification of data on different systems and ensured a more transparent organization of payment processes.

Step 3

Creation of audit and accountability mechanisms

An electronic history of all transactions carried out on the platform was created and automatic recording of payment information was ensured.

Transaction amount, date, type of service, status and information about the relevant system are stored in a single structure. This facilitates the subsequent verification of payments, the investigation of discrepancies and the preparation of reports.

The automated audit mechanism minimized human intervention and increased the level of accountability.

Technical approach

API Gateway was built on the principles of secure data exchange, cross-system compatibility, and high availability.

Standardization of requests received in different formats, payment routing to the correct system and synchronization of transaction results were ensured.

The modular and flexible architecture of the platform allows for easier integration of new services, payment channels and related government systems into the infrastructure in the future.

The result of the project

The API Gateway developed for the Ministry of Justice eliminated the problem of fragmented payment management across different systems.

Payment processing was accelerated, data exchange between systems was automated, and manual intervention was minimized. The monitoring of operations from a single center and the creation of an electronic audit history increased the transparency of the processes.

The new infrastructure allowed the Ministry of Justice to organize payment processes in a more secure, controlled and efficient manner, and to increase the level of accountability.
